Why and When it’s Necessary:
The purpose of power steering fluid is lubrication. Power steering Fluid lubricates and transmits the pressure needed for power assisted steering to work properly and also to lubricate the rubber seals & gaskets that are used in the Rack & Pinion / Gear Box and/or Power steering Pump.

• If the fluid is old/bad or is not filled to the appropriate level, it could cause you to have no power steering.  This means that you would be steering your vehicle manually which is harder to do.

• If the fluid is old/bad, this could cause the rubber seals & gasket used in the Rack & Pinion / Gear Box and/or Power Steering Pump to need to be replaced. This can be costly. 

                       You should have your power steering fluid flushed every 45,000 miles.
